  • ALERT FOR LOCAL SCAMS

    Alert message sent 28/06/2022 14:14:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Recently we have seen a victim lose a profound amount of money to a scammer who posed as a Police Officer over the telephone. The scammer convincingly told the victim they need to provide cash and valuables to assist with a false investigation. A courier will then come to collect gold and other valuables, whilst also asking for online bank transfers. This has been a common tac tic by scammers who have recently targeted the Princes Risborough area and vulnerable people. Please remember, the Police will never ask you for money or valuables to assist with an investigation. We would like to remind you to challenge the ID of anyone who contacts you, whether by phone or in person. A police officer will always be happy to provide their collar number and ID badge; you can even confirm this with our control room by using 101 and asking to verify the collar number given. Please remain vigilant and report any suspected scams to Action Fraud, and never given your personal information away.
