To support Operation Sceptre, a national week of knife crime prevention and education, we are promoting our Ditch the Blade campaign this week.

If you follow Staffordshire Police on social media, you will see us reaching out to parents and guardians this week to encourage them to start a conversation with their child if they have concerns that they may be carrying a knife. Some children do so out of fear, not realising that the knife they think will protect them actually puts them in greater danger of being injured themselves.

We want to encourage open and honest discussions about knife crime across the whole community to break down the stigma and stereotypes often associated with this crime.

Anyone in Tamworth who wishes to surrender a knife can do so safely and without question at our knife bin at St Editha's Church in the Town Centre.

Residents can also take knives to their local Household Waste Recycling Centre (tip).
