  • Update to Dog owners and walkers in Totternhoe and Dunstable

    Alert message sent 23/02/2021 14:37:00

Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Our Rural Crime Team, along with investigators from our Scenes of Crime team, and representatives from Natural England recently visited the areas of Green Lanes and Totternhoe Knolls, but did not find anything suspicious.

Some meat, which was discovered by a member of the public earlier this month, has been sent away for analysis, and a post mortem examination of a fox is being undertaken by specialist wildlife investigators, but it will be some weeks before we have the results.

We have received no further reports of incidents, but would urge people to continue help us protect our communities by reporting any suspicious activity, or concerning behaviour, to us as soon as possible and only to share official information.

Every report provides us with more intelligence around an emerging issue and allows early investigation.

We would continue to advise anyone walking dogs in and around these areas to be vigilant. and to keep them on a lead for the moment.

If your dog does become ill, please seek veterinary assistance urgently, and if it is confirmed that it is likely to be caused by poisoning, please advise your vet to retain any samples for testing, and report to the police via 101 or via the online reporting tool at www.bedfordshire.police.uk/report.
