Theft of Catalytic Converters

There has been two reports of Catalytic Converter thefts from vehicles in Wellingborough during the period 22/10 /2020 to 26/10/2020. If anybody has seen anything suspicious during these dates on Denington road and Paterson Road, Wellingborough please call 101. The crime reference numbers are 20000564401 and 20000564683.
Converters are targets for thieves because of the precious metals they contain.

How to prevent Catalytic converter thefts wherever possible:
Defensive parking - ensure vehicles that are most vulnerable to theft are parked where they are most inaccessible to thieves. Consider blocking vehicles with high clearance with low clearance vehicles to prevent offenders from getting underneath.

Perimeter security - ensure your business has an appropriate boundary fence which will act as a deterrent to opportunist Catalytic converter thieves.

Use lighting to illuminate areas where an offender may be seen.

Consider investigating in monitored CCTV to provide protection over your vehicle fleet.
If you see somebody acting suspiciously under a vehicle, report it to the Police. Obtain as much information as possible including any vehicle registrations.
