Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Good Morning Residents of Merry Hill,

The Penn & Merry Hill Neighbourhood Policing Team has been made aware of unknown males who are knocking doors asking to enter your homes to turn off your water or something similar, this is to gain entry to steal possessions of value within your home. This occurred at South Green (PENN) and the unknown males did not gain entry, due to the victim refusing them to enter his property without ID. The Victim said the unknown male had a Irish Accent. They then left in a A 61 PLATE BLACK VW GOLF, however after making off from this incident they were seen changing the plate on the VW GOLF and then it was later involved in a RTC on the CANNOCK ROAD. The unknown males decamped the vehicle, large scale area search was conducted but no trace of any of them.

We advise to only ever let someone enter if you are familiar of the company/people who are doing work or have done work prior to your address. Also if unknown workers are collecting the money on behalf of their manager...can they prove who they work for and provide an invoice if possible? if you do have any information upon this please contact 101 quoting the crime reference number; 20WV/255314B/20. anything else in relation to this then please report online via the WMP Online or if it is an emergency please call 999.

If it's not 999, search WMP Online www.west-midlands.police.uk where you can get tailored advice, live chat to an adviser (8am - midnight, Mon-Sun), report non-emergency crime online or track your case. Alternatively contact us on 101.

If you have information that may assist the police you can contact CrimeStoppers anonymously via www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111
