    Alert message sent 07/10/2020 09:08:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

    Hi Citizen

I really don't like sending these messages out, but we are seeing an increase in vehicle thefts, by entering homes to take the keys, and also by picking up the keyless signal from within the home.

I cannot stress enough how important it is not to leave your keys on show when you go to bed.  If your vehicle uses keyless entry, please invest in a signal blocking pouch, they aren't expensive, Amazon have them and will be with you within 24 hours of ordering.  I'm aware of people putting their Fobs in bread bins and sauce pans, this will not entirely block your signal.

Another way to secure your vehicle is to fit it with a Disklok steering wheel lock, they aren't cheap, but worth investing in if you can.

Last week I was shown CCTV footage that had been shared on the B44 Facebook page of a group that may have been responsible for a number of vehicle thefts.  Please can I ask that if you do have anything that may help us identify those involved that you report it to us either by 101 or online at West Midlands Police Live Chat.

    Thank you and stay safe
    Tracy
